SayPro Detail the computer-aided drawing

Symbols and logos are identified, produced and positioned to comply with requirements AutoCAD allows you to have access to a large number of commands. A general rule is that you will use 20% of the commands 80% of the time. I will start by introducing you to the most common drawing commands. When you combine these with the basic modify commands, you will be able to make elaborate drawings quite quickly. In other words, most of the commands you will use while using AutoCAD are taught. The important thing to remember is that AutoCAD will expect you give it information in a very particular order. The most frustrating thing when you begin using this program is that you will try to do something, but AutoCAD will ‘not work’. In most cases, it means that you are trying to input information at the wrong time. This is why it is very important to be in the habit of looking at the command line. The command line tells you what information AutoCAD requires to continue.

Command Keystroke Icon Location Result
Line Line / L Line Icon Home > Line Draw a straight line segment from one point to the next
Circle Circle / C Circle Icon Home> Circle > Center, Radius Draws a circle based on a center point and radius.
Erase Erase / E Erase Icon Modify > Erase Erases an object.
Print Print / Plot CTRL+P Plot Icon Quick Access Toolbar > Print Enables the Print/Plot Configuration Dialog Box
Undo U / CTRL+Z Undo Icon Quick Access Toolbar> Undo Undoes the last command.

Dynamic Input on the Status BarDrawing notes and presentation detail are added where required by the task to comply with requirements and code of practice This time we are going to learn how to use AutoCAD drawing tools. I will not describe how you can use every tools, but how to use AutoCAD drawing tools in general. My objective is you know how to learn AutoCAD by yourself. I can write how to use every AutoCAD tools, but don’t you think understanding it is better?Using AutoCAD Drawing tools is simpleThere’s nothing hard in using AutoCAD drawing tools. Let’s try this simple steps. You can see the screenshot below, click next/forward button to move to the next step.

  1. Click the tool you want to use on the ribbon. AutoCAD drawing tools is on home tab. Let’s start with line.
  2. You will see the dynamic input near your pointer. It will tell you what you need to do next. Most of drawing tools will ask you a point location. We will learn how to input the coordinate precisely later. Just click anywhere on your drawing area.
  3. Again, dynamic input will tell you what to do. Another point location. Click anywhere again. Pay attention that information in dynamic input is also shown in command line.
  4. AutoCAD is continue asking you for point location. Click again.
  5. When you finish drawing line segments, press [enter] to finish it. Many veteran AutoCAD users like to use [space] as an alternative.
  6. Now let’s try to draw a rectangle.
  7. Just like drawing lines, it will ask you for a point location. Click anywhere.
  8. And just like line tool, it will ask next point. But don’t click your mouse yet. Press down arrow on your keyboard, or click the small arrow next to ‘specify other corner point or
  9. This is how you can see options for creating rectangle. The most common way is defining 2 points, but you can also define it by using other methods. If you see in the command line, you can see the options too. You can use the option by typing the capital letters in available options.

6In a Nut ShellUsing most AutoCAD drawing tools can be used the same way.

  1. Click the tool to activate it.
  2. Follow the instructions.
  3. Change the options if necessary.
  4. Some tools will end after you define points, like rectangle and circle. Some other tools require you to end it manually, press [Enter] to do it.

It’s very simple isn’t it?Now, try to use the other drawing tools. Don’t worry about the size for now. We will learn how to input points precisely later.Drawing is saved to file according to organisational proceduresIf you have been using computers for a while chances are that have experienced a crash or that the power has gone out in the middle of your work. So, with AutoCAD, what do you do in these situations? It’s not always easy to reproduce work once it’s already completed. If you were fixing redlines, then you’ve already highlighted making it a lot of work to go back and check that you changed every detail. If you were designing, it’s hard to remember exactly what you did or why you were doing it.The Express Tool Command SAVEALL allows you to easily save changes on all open drawings, no matter if you have only one drawing open or you have 15 of them open. This, as simple as it sounds can be useful when for whatever reason we are working simultaneously on many drawings updating all of them. With this command, we can save changes on all the drawings in a very simple way.Similar to this command is the CLOSEALL Express Tool command. What this one does is to close all the open drawings asking if you want to save changes in those that have been modified. So next time you need to save and close a lot of drawings, you can simply type SAVEALL and then CLOSEALL and all the drawings will be saved and closed in only a few seconds.Quick SaveBefore we even talk about drawing recovery we should look over a very important habit, QSAVE. QSAVE, CTRL+S or the save icon will save your drawing fairly quickly. If you get a phone call, if you are going to go check your email, or if you’re off to the restroom, make sure to throw a save in.Although AutoCAD has an automatic save feature, it should not be relied on to save your drawings. Instead it should be used as a reminder that you need save your drawing. In the OPTIONS dialogue box, under the Open and Save tab is the setting for Automatic Save and the time duration between each save. A good setting for this is thirty minutes. This time is the amount of time since the last save, whether it was an automatic or manual save. You may have noticed while you are drafting, right when you finish a command, the command line will pop up a message such as“Automatic save to C:DOCUME~1USERLOCALS~1TempBase-PromotedE _1_2_3986.sv$"This message can be quite irritating if it appears too often as you have to wait for the drawing to save. A good thing about this message is that it reminds us that we’re not QSAVEing often enough. Furthermore, right after an automatic save fires, you should still throw in a QSAVE anyways. The reason that saving after an Automatic Save is important is that when you exit AutoCAD all the .SV$ files are automatically deleted. When you close AutoCAD it’s just like when you shut down Windows and it goes and cleans out some files before you leave to save hard drive space. It’s only in the event when a QUIT is not run that the SV$ files can save you.To prevent drawing corruption, it’s important to change the "Incremental save precentage" setting in the Open and Save tab of the OPTIONS dialogue box. Incremental save is used so that only new information is written to the DWG file when saving. Once enough changes have been made to reach the incremental save percentage (i.e. 50%), the next save will be a full save. This can speed up the process of quick saving, but increases the chances of losing data when a crash occurs. The slight increase in speed is not worth the potential of losing data. Therefore, it’s a good idea to set your ISAVEPERCENT to ZERO, so that every save is a full save.Text Description automatically generated with low confidence
