Youth unemployment is a global issue that affects many countries. In fact, South Africa has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world.
Why is this the case? It is estimated that about 50% of unemployed youth in South Africa have dropped out of high school and want to contribute their skills to society, but are unable to do so due to lack of resources and jobs. This seems like a big waste of talent and potential, so why don’t we take measures?
Do you know that SayPro exists? Yes! They are an organisation that works towards tackling youth unemployment by providing accessible education for those who need it most. And guess what – they’re coming to Kwa-Zulu Natal!
SayPro will be conducting workshops on financial literacy, employment-related skills, and employability amongst other topics – all aimed at helping disadvantaged youth prepare themselves for a career they’ll love while simultaneously ensuring they live a stable life.
A grim picture is emerging of the youth unemployment situation in KwaZulu-Natal. As estimates suggest that as many as 70,000 young people are unemployed, more and more parents are taking measures to get their wards into employment. One such initiative is SayPro, a youth unemployment project that offers young people an opportunity to develop their skills and find jobs.
SayPro has been offering young KZN residents work experience in industries such as banking, hospitality, logistics and social work over the past three years. The project is based on the belief that hard work and dedication can help solve any problem and break any barrier. That’s why we believe in empowering youth through management programs, provided by world-class consultants who understand how businesses function.
Sleep well at night knowing that you’re making a difference in the lives of our region’s most vulnerable youth!
Companies are taking notice of the need to support youth in their quest for employment and SayPro is one such company. The SayPro team has made it its mission to empower youth in KwaZulu-Natal so that they can participate fully in society and contribute towards its growth.
As part of its commitment to supporting youth, SayPro hosts various programs that aim at imparting valuable skills and knowledge so that young people can develop the ability to stand on their own two feet. It also sponsors various employment opportunities, mentoring schemes, and training sessions that aim at helping them gain a foothold in a competitive world.
Youth unemployment is a big issue in most countries today. In fact, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Employment Trends report, youth unemployment has hit a staggering 45% worldwide. What’s worse is that this number is expected to increase drastically by 2020.
These figures clearly show that we need to do something about this problem soon. And what better way of doing so than providing young people with skills and opportunities?
SayPro understands this and thus strives to spread awareness about using the power of entrepreneurship among youth across Kwa-Zulu Natal. By creating a platform for young entrepreneurs and startups, SayPro aims to create employment for youth and give them a chance at making their dreams come true. The initiative offers various programs designed to develop entrepreneurship skills and help young entrepreneurs grow their businesses, including mentorship programs and conferences.
Do you too believe in cultivating a spirit of entrepreneurship among youth? Then make sure you’re part of SayPro!
