Since its inception in 2013, the SayPro Diepsloot Youth Project has been helping vulnerable youth develop life skills and finding ways of living independently. The project is run by a group of concerned citizens who believe every youth should have an opportunity to realize his or her full potential. They work closely with volunteers and staff to provide free education and counseling; life skills workshops; and employment opportunities.

In the world, there are over 1.25 billion children out of school, which means that a staggering 1 in 6 people is not getting an education. In South Africa alone, more than 4 million kids are missing out on an education each year. That’s why SayPro Diepsloot Youth Project exists – to provide these kids with an opportunity to learn and develop their skills.

Through teaching them new skills and providing them with a safe and nurturing environment, SayPro Diepsloot Youth Project aims to empower these children and give them the confidence they need to go further in life.

Diepsloot is home to the youth of South Africa. The streets are their battlegrounds and they are trying to change the fate of the community by making it safer and more inviting for everyone. When SayPro heard about this, they decided to lend a hand.

For over two decades, SayPro has been helping disadvantaged youth acquire skills and obtain employment in order to become contributing members of society. They do so by providing them with the necessary training and resources that will help them realize their full potential.

Youth unemployment is a big challenge these days. Young people need to be proactively encouraged to join the workforce and SayPro Diepsloot Youth Project has been doing that since 2009. The project works with unemployed youth in Diepsloot, one of the hardest-hit areas of Johannesburg where poverty is more rampant than anywhere else.

The project gives them regular jobs as well as training, mentoring, and extra-curricular activities to keep them occupied and make them feel important. In its 9 years of existence, this project has helped over 200 young people find jobs or start their own small business. With an estimated 40% unemployment rate among youths in South Africa, the SayPro team truly believes that by giving back we change millions of lives everyday!
