**SayPro  – Transfer of Czech Best Practice and Lessons Learned Local Self-Government’s Role in Creating Environment without Discrimination and Stigmatization of PLHIV to the Representatives from the Republic of Serbia

Thank you for hosting this event. Before we begin, I would like to say a few words about the importance of understanding and addressing the stigma attached to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Stigma is a very complex problem that can take years, if not decades, to address effectively. However, we know that the sooner we start talking about it, the sooner we can collectively strive towards eradicating it. So let’s start right now by turning up our voices and supporting efforts in creating an environment without discrimination and stigmatization of PLHIV in Serbia.

Thank you!

The Republic of Serbia is one of the most populous countries in Europe. It is also one of the most diverse, as it hosts a large population of over 700,000 people living with HIV/AIDS. With its different languages, religions and cultures, Serbia has been experiencing an ongoing process of change and development.

It was not easy to bring about this change from within an organization, but it was made possible by organizations like SayPro. Local self-government’s role in creating an environment without discrimination and stigmatization of the people living with HIV/AIDS has been a very important progressive step for the country’s development.

SayPro is the latest name in the online space for providing information about best practices and lessons learned related to HIV and AIDS.

The idea behind SayPro is simple. There are countries across the globe taking steps to tackle this disease at its root by creating a conducive environment for such people to stay alive and live with dignity. These steps range from providing better healthcare facilities, to ensuring a safe living and working space, etc. Local self-government plays a crucial role in creating the right ambience for these people. Locals should be educated about the disease, so that they don’t stigmatize them or discriminate against them in any manner. The representatives of Serbia are not left out of this activity; they want to disseminate knows-how about how to tackle this disease, including transferring it to other governments as well. So, let’s follow up these important steps, spread awareness and respect, and offer all possible support towards a cure!

The self-government of the Czech Republic is an inspiring example for achieving gender equality and empowering women. This is why, SayPro, the country’s leading LGBT+ rights group, partnered with the government of the Czech Republic to help it spread its best practice and lessons to other countries. To do so, they invited the representatives from the Republic of Serbia to learn more about how the Czech Republic has been successfully tackling these issues.

After a day-long workshop, representatives from Serbia came away with many valuable insights on how they can implement similar policies in their own country. They also got to see first-hand how it feels to live without stigma and discrimination; what it takes to have a safe environment where everyone is accepted and respected.

As a part of its worldwide endeavor to improve the living conditions of people with HIV and AIDS, the Czech Republic has introduced best-practice models such as that of Australia, Norway and Denmark. One of those nations is Serbia where SayPro self-government has been trying to implement models similar to that of the Czech Republic. In this article, we will introduce Serbia’s local self-government’s role in creating environment without discrimination and stigmatization among PLHIV while they are at work.

In addition to that, there are times when you need special treatment or a change in timings because your condition is not stable yet. This is why self-governing bodies like SayPro have helped local governments create an ecosystem for people with HIV and AIDS where they feel comfortable enough to live their life as normal as possible.
