The IM Technical Officer is specifically responsible for designing and implementing the department’s information management strategy to analyze and disseminate information within and outside of the department. Where information gaps exist, the IM technical Officer may help set up primary data collection systems and organize needs assessments, which may also involve other stakeholders.SayPro:
- Data Management support
- Draft and manage the information management strategy including the internal management of information within the department, document management, flow of information, and discovery of data/information- and define operational and funding requirements for the implementation of the strategy.
- Identify new information and data requirements needed to support operations and programs
- Manages the DMS databank by classifying, collating, and storing information, usually using a computer application, for easy access and retrieval, including archiving finished/old data/records, and updating it as needed.
- Coordination and Representation
- Support the promotion of data and information sharing within the organization and external partners and stakeholders, including attending events, and submission of periodic reports.
- Work closely with the different unit heads to ensure consistency and interoperability between data sets
- Personnel Management and Capacity Building
- Provide training to unit staff with regard to managing records as well as the collection, analysis, and maintenance of data.
