Job Description

Applicants must be in possession of a National Diploma: Electrical Engineering or equivalent (N6 or T3/S4 Certificate in Electrical Engineering Heavy Current) • Must be able to register with ECSA • Code B driver’s license • 2 years’ Operating experience in high voltage (11kV) and recommended to have operating experience up to 66kV • 1 Year electricity network distribution • Metering systems and remote metering • Motor Control Systems • Testing of LV and MV cables • Computer literate • May not be epileptic • Must obtain 66kV operating authority for Control Officer within one year • Electricity Distribution is an Essential Service Duties will entail: Manage, planning and controlling of section • Responsible for Capital Projects • Manage the Metering Installations • Project Management • Maintenance projects • Specification and documentation • Communication with public • Administrative responsibilities • Manage System operating • Manage the Sewerage and Water, electrical installations • Manage the traffic lights • Manage the testing of MV and LV cables • Manage the radios communication system • Manage the festival lights • Must be in good physical health • Must not be colour blind • Be sober of mind • be able to resolve problems for himself • Must be able to work at extreme heights and small platforms • Must be able to work in confined spaces • Must be able to handle stress • Must work after hours and on public holidays when required • Must be willing to work in all kinds of weather conditions • Must be able work and to do maintenance on live electrical apparatus and equipment • Must perform standby duties • Schematic diagrams and plans • Standby and Control Officer duties • Health and Safety
