Description
Official Bodies, Their Location, Funding And Support Services for Construction Sector Most of the organisations described in the preceding paragraphs are funded wholly or partly by the government which in turn obtains its funding from the taxpayers, i.e. mainly the private sector. It follows then that these organisations should be available to the taxpayer for consultation and should be open and accountable. Details of the structures, location, funding and support services made available to the public by these organisations are available on their web sites, which are listed in the reference section at the end of this chapter. In this section, you will practice how to manage occupational learning materials. Occupational learning materials are materials that you develop or make use of in workplace learning situations or in training centres. Examples of such materials are your training tools, handouts, files, notes, charts, maps, plans, drawings, videos, Internet materials, and many others. The materials in this training course are an example of occupational training materials, and once you have received or been guided to such learning materials, you are responsible to organise them properly. Other examples are the notes you take when you collect information from sources such as your supervisor, or product literature you collect from suppliers and vendors. Check PointWhich are some of the laws mentioned in this study that guides the construction industry?
- The Construction Industry Development Board Act, Architectural Professions Act, Engineering Professions Act, The Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, The National Building Regulations and the South African Bureau of Standards, Codes of Practice.
