Job Description

REQUIREMENTS: • A relevant tertiary qualification (National Diploma: Municipal Admin / Law / or equivalent) • Computer literate • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant working • Ability to communicate in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape COMPETENCIES: • Proven organizational and administrative skills with sound understanding of Local Government systems • Ability to work with a high level of confidential correspondence and information • Good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills • Ability to perform under pressure with frequent interruptions • Ability to handle high volume of correspondence and documents • Good administrative and numerical skills • Firm but fair approach • Ability to function independently without constant supervision • Ability to work under pressure • High work standards KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: • Ensure that all the matters requiring the attention of the Deputy Director are dealt with according to urgency and schedule • Ensure that information is exchanged, and that proper time management is effected with the Director • To build professional relationships over a wide spectrum to enhance the image of Council in a professional context • Ensure reporting deadlines are accomplished and accurate information is made available in accordance with laid down procedures • Ensure support is made available to enable accomplishment of service delivery objectives and standards • Ensure the responsible promotion, effective and efficient management of electronic records within statutory and legislative requirements • Provide assistance to ensure functional and effective service delivery within the department • Ensure adequate support is made available to enable the Section to accomplish specific outcomes • Ensure support is made available to ensure efficient and quality service delivery • Ensure administrative and departmental procedures and guidelines adopted, applied with in all transactions, activities and sequences associated • Ensure that a professional reception service is provided • To emphasize the mental strength and professional capabilities the incumbent must possess to function efficiently in the Office of the Deputy Director
