South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa (RSA), is the southernmost country in Africa. The remaining population consists of Africa’s largest communities of European, Asian (Indian), and multiracial (Coloured) ancestry.Language The common language used in South Africa is English. It is very easy for people to communicate with locals of South Africa as it is a diverse country with 11 official languages: (English, Sepedi, Setswana, Xhosa, IsiZulu, Tshivenda, Tsonga, Ndebele, Swati, Sesotho, and Afrikaans). The most commonly used languages are English, Sepedi, and IsiZulu and they are much easier to grasp as most of the locals use them. The people of South Africa are very friendly and it is common to greet almost everyone you meet words like 8ta, Ola, and Fede are for informal greeting. Please be aware of people that might want to take advantage of you.Time and Weather The local time is GMT +2 South Africa has four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, and winter). The climate is hot. Several calamities such as heavy rains, floods, violent storms, and droughts are unlikely to occur in this area. During the time that you will be coming to South Africa in the middle of September, the weather will be hot but can be chilly in the evening sometimes. You can expect an average temperature of 14°C (34°F), up slightly from an average of 13°C (30°F) in June, and likewise, the average temperature will be a bit low in June. We recommend that you bring both lights, but mostly warm clothes, please pack a sunhat as it may get hot during some of the days, rain can also be expected.
