Job Description

Introduction MIDVAAL LOCAL MUNICIPALITY INVITES SUITABLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES TO APPLY FOR THE ADVERTISED VACANCY: Job description Investigate and check electrical consumption to ensure correct usage and correct faulty accounts based on outcome of investigations, including but not limited to: o Bulk electrical Meters o Commercial electrical Meters o Household electrical Meters o High & Abnormal Consumption o Low electrical Consumption o No electrical Consumption Responsible for the supervision and monitor of staff within the section Manage & Monitor External Services Providers Project Management Plan network extensions relating to new Town Developments. Collect information on network extensions MV and LV and forward to IMQS for updating plans Calculate network capacity, fault levels, cable size and services connection cost Calculate network capacity, fault levels, cable size, services connection cost and bulk contribution calculations. Provide comments on electrical reticulation on house plans received from Development & Planning department Deal with Eskom applications for power supply at various installations Manage SSEG customers Ensure plans are submitted to Eskom, Telkom and Gautrans for new installations Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested or required by management (supervisor) from time to time. Minimum requirements B Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent NQF level 7 in electrical Professional Registration certificate Valid drivers’ licence Meet MFMA minimum competency requirements or qualify for dispensation Project Management and Financial Management skills and experience Competent in implementation, interpretation and enforcement of relevant legislation and applicable policies Computer literate (MSWord, MS Excel, PowerPoint & MS Projects) Proven management skills including: analytical thinking, empowerment, adaptability, communication, leadership skills, conceptual skills, presentation skills, conflict and stress management skills, negotiation skills. Report writing skills Knowledge of planning procedures and regulations 3-5 years relevant experience within Electrical environment of which 3 years should be at supervision level.
