Job Description

Purpose To implement the ECPTA’s mandate relying on operational frameworks to achieve objectives and deliverables in line with the broader ECPTA strategy; in a bid to improve Protected Areas’ revenue enhancement through commercialisation of eco-tourism as well as biodiversity opportunities. Required Education and Experience Grade 12 and BCom Honours (Tourism), BTech/Honours in Conservation, Development Studies/Economics (Honours) and/or Business Studies (Honours) or equivalent. 5 years’ experience as a Commercialisation Manager or Business Development Manager at protected areas and/or eco-tourism and biodiversity environments. Code 08/EB driving license Required Skills Knowledge of the PPP Toolkit for Tourism and applicable legislation. Knowledge of the B-BBEE Charter and Scorecard. Project management skills. Identification and promotion of investment opportunities in tourism and biodiversity economies. Stakeholder management, working with internal and external stakeholders, communities and/or People and Parks engagements. High level of communication, public speaking, negotiations, people management, strategic thinking and change management skills Key Performance Areas Develop and implement commercialisation strategies and plans – Prepare proposals, conduct due diligence, developing innovative techniques and report on the outputs and impact of commercialisation activities. PPP tourism toolkit implementation – Develop public and private partnerships in line with the PPP tourism toolkit and relevant legislation. Enhance the financial sustainability of the ECPTA – Mobilise financial and non-financial resources, devise mechanisms to generate revenue, establish new avenues to drive revenue enhancement for ECPTA. Etc. Promote ecotourism and biodiversity economy investment opportunities – Present at investment conferences, roadshows, and relevant platforms, promote ecotourism and biodiversity investment opportunities through advertisements, media etc. Stakeholder Management – Provide the interface between ECPTA and potential investors and/or concessionaires in building strong networks, develop relationships with key strategic stakeholders (government and private sector) leveraging on arising opportunities etc.
