**SayPro After the workshops, the group took the responsibility of coming together for creative positive awareness activities, meetings would be held for capacity building and planning around awareness activities. These women also held conversations around continuing the group meetings and organizing awareness activities on GBV even beyond Diepsloot Youth Project’s presence. Since its inception and peak, the group has spearheaded several awareness activities around the community through some guidance from Diepsloot Youth Project. The activities undertaken were aimed at preventing the occurrence of GBV. Activities included community dialogue, awareness walkabout, mall outreach and door to door.

Women empowerment is undoubtedly a matter of concern these days. But, there are certain women who have taken it upon their shoulders to increase the awareness about this subject and work towards it. At SayPro, we believe that the most powerful way to change society is by working with those already in a position to make an impact. That is why we have created SayPro!

Meet SayPro, an initiative that aims to spread awareness about gender-based violence (GBV) in the community through creative workshops. The first workshop was held in Diepsloot, Johannesburg, and it went down effortlessly with everyone participating enthusiastically.

Women from various backgrounds gathered to learn all about gender-based violence, why it is important to speak out against it, and how we can take action by organizing collective efforts. Along with this, SayPro also held meetings to plan capacity building efforts around GBV awareness activities. These women were determined to make sure that the group continued meeting even after the project was over.
