SayPro is a young and dynamic organisation that understands the importance of changing attitudes, norms and behaviour to end violence. Founded in 2013, SayPro Diepsloot Youth Project works with children aged 5-12 years old to address harmful attitudes, norms and behaviours that lead to violence.
Projects teach children about personal safety, empathy and respect by creating fun, interactive activities that challenge them to think critically and act compassionately. Children learn that they don’t need to harm others in order to get attention or feel important – they can make a difference without resorting to violence. Project Advisory Steering Committee members are experts in their fields who have committed their time and resources toward ending violence through education, advocacy and research. They recognize the importance of early intervention, the link between gender equality and security and the critical role of women’s empowerment in addressing violent extremism.
