SayPro is a youth project for empowering youth and providing them with opportunities. Through SayPro, participating youths get to learn about the different fields and how they can use it as a stepping stone to their future. Diepsloot Youth Project in Johannesburg is engaging participants from various backgrounds like journalism, content creation and more. The participants are given a brief on what they have to do and where they have to go. They work alongside SayPro volunteers to provide video footage, commentary and photographic coverage of life in lockdown from the perspective of a township citizen journalist. The aim of this project is to provide an eye witness account of what goes on around us while we sleep peacefully at night.

Lockdown is a time when the citizens of the country come together with a collective resolve to stand up against those who threaten their rights and beliefs. What is Diepsloot Youth Project? DYP is an initiative of Ndumiso Mahlangu who aims to create opportunities for youth in the Township of Diepsloot to develop their careers and grow as individuals.
