 Training is regarded as a process that involves the following stages;

  • Planning and preparation
  • Delivering of the presentation
  • Review of training engagements

To this end, every CHW must be able to understand the 3 stages involved in the training process. In this section we shall deal with the first stage i.e. planning the training. The other stages shall be dealt sections to follow.

LEARNING ACTIVITY
Identify and describe situations in which a CHW might need training skills.

1.1.2 PLANNING AND PREPARING FOR TRAINING
A good training presentation depends not only on good delivery, but also on good planning and preparation. It is essential that your talk should be well constructed and that 
your points should be presented unambiguously in a logical sequence to fulfil the
brief you have been given or defined.
The planning stage of any presentation includes;

  • Analysis of the audience and their specific needs,
  • Identification of learning outcomes.
  • Identification and mobilisation of resources.
  • Preparation of learning material.
  • Selection of appropriate training methods.
  • Arranging the learning environment
  • Designing a training review criteria.

LEARNING ACTIVITY
Discuss the importance of planning before conducting a presentation or training session.
