CodeYourFuture (CYF) is a UK based non-profit organisation that trains some of the most deprived members of society to become web developers and helps them to find work in the tech industry.
CYF students are trained in full-stack web development by volunteers from the tech industry, putting a strong emphasis on collaboration and product development through tech projects. CYF graduates work in companies like FT, BBC, STV, Ticketmaster and startups like Adzuna, Sensible Object, tlr and WeGotPop.
Education Volunteers provide the learning side of CodeYourFuture by teaching students HTML, CSS and Javascript. Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds including refugees, asylum seekers and people from a disd background.
Volunteers are key to CodeYourFuture, there are three main Volunteering Opportunities. Education, Outreach and Personal Development. The main roles of the Education Team are:
Provide technical assistance to students on Saturday classes
Provide technical assistance to students during weekly homework clubs
Provide homework code reviews
Provide general code reviews remotely
Provide technical assistance remotely to students
Provide technical assistance remotely to students
Provide general technical guidance to students
Lead/instruct a module
Assist module instructors in preparing material for their class
Assist with the improvement and maintenance of the syllabus and class material
Prepare assessment materials for students at the end of each module
Help assess applicants to the next class through our application process website
