The Program / Department / Team 

Global Procurement and Logistics (GPL) provides support to Mercy Corps’ HQ and field operations in the areas of procurement and sourcing, compliance with internal policies and procedures, and enablement of the FP3/HP3/HP3E policies by leveraging industry best practices and platforms such as SAP Ariba. “Source to Pay” (S2P), is a project team within GPL, responsible for leading and coordinating implementation of the SAP Ariba Sourcing, Contracting and Procurement solution, known internally as “ProSource”

The Position

Working on the ProSource Implementation team under the direction of the S2P Global Transition Manager and in close collaboration with the S2P Project Manager, Sr. Finance Training Officer, and Regional RPLM, the ProSource Finance Training Manager will help implement the ProSource country training strategy and assist in implementing ProSource related finance training programs for field based staff. The ProSource Finance Training Manager will have primary responsibility for coordinating key finance focal point resources on the ground in country offices, as well as supporting the implementation of Finance Team Focal Point orientation, and train the trainer activities for Finance focal points. This resource will operate in the general time zone for regions being implemented and will conduct in person and remote training for each country within a given region. 

Essential SayPro

  • Support S2P Global Transition Manager, in the implementation and refinement of staff, training programs and materials for new finance related training initiatives, during the regional workday of the countries being implemented.
  • Coordinate the identification and onboarding of country office Finance “Focal Points” as well as associated orientations and communications.
  • Support country and region roll-out pre-planning activities including initial country finance assessments and data collection tasks.
  • Coordinate with S2P Finance Training Lead and the S2P Global Transition Manager to improve the overall orientation program, including the development of a blended learning strategy using a variety of methodologies, content and training materials.
  • In coordination with S2P Training scheduled training of targeted topics and deliver the sessions via webinar or in person, based on the agreed schedule.
  • Provide feedback to the S2P Global Transition Manager and project team to update related modules, scripts and materials as needed.
  • Share feedback and/or process improvement proposals with business process owners, Sr. Finance Training Officer, and the S2P Project Manager.
  • Deploy to field offices for short duration targeted training, On-the-Job mentoring, office start-up assistance and other training assistance as necessary.
  • Prepare local Focal Points to ensure proper support during each country go-live

Works Directly With: GPL, GSCU, Information Technology, Corporate Finance, International Finance, Mercy Corps Europe’ Finance Department, cross-operations departments including People and Strategy, Monitoring and Evaluation, etc.

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • Five or more years of operational system training and/or implementation
  • A university degree in finance, accounting or a related business field is required. 
  • Three years of in the Finance Department of a non-government organization with international assistance operations.  A combination of Headquarters-based and field operations is highly desirable.  Experience in Mercy Corps’ Finance operations, FFM policies and procedures is also highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of major international donor rules, especially US government regulations is SayPro.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, including Excel, MS Word and prior with web based productivity suites such as G-Suite is required.
  • Demonstrated in facilitating complex training and implementation programs, including the delivery of blended learning approaches, e-learning and other web-based delivery methods as well as live trainings, workshops and conferences is strongly preferred.  Prior in delivering and developing procurement software training and knowledge of adult learning concepts are highly desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills are required.  Experience in developing training materials, writing user guides and other documentation as well as delivering live training to audiences of various sizes is preferred.

Success Factors

The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff at all levels as well as at HQ and in the field is critical.  The ability to take procurement data and concepts and present them in a meaningful way to both procurement staff and non-procurement staff is essential.  The successful candidate will have the ability to coordinate project-based work, meet short-term and long-term deadlines and be effective in a team environment.  The ProSource Country Training Coordinator must be comfortable delivering live training to large audiences or via webinar and must be able to independently deliver complex training curriculum across different global contexts. The most successful Mercy Corps team members have a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability, and make effective communication a priority in all situations.  Mercy Corps is a highly collaborative and lateral organization that encourages strong self-initiative as well as team spirit.  In order to succeed in this environment, the candidate should be highly organized and innovative.  They should also demonstrate proud workmanship, good communication, and collaboration skills. 

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

US, UK, Amman, Jordan.  This position must support non-US time zones and will also involve at least 40% travel to roll-out country offices. Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC’s policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
