CodeYourFuture (CYF) is a UK based non-profit organisation that trains some of the most deprived members of society to become web developers and helps them to find work in the tech industry.
CYF students are trained in full-stack web development by volunteers from the tech industry, putting a strong emphasis on collaboration and product development through tech projects. CYF graduates work in companies like FT, BBC, STV, Ticketmaster and startups like Adzuna, Sensible Object, tlr and WeGotPop.
Personal Development Volunteers help our students develop their soft skills and offer support to students as they progress through the course. Students come from a wide variety of backgrounds including refugees, asylum seekers and people from a disadvantaged background.
Volunteers are key to CodeYourFuture, there are three main Volunteering Opportunities. Personal Development, Education and Outreach. The main roles of the Personal Development Team are:
Support with running soft skills sessions (focus on communication skills, confidence building, working in teams etc)
Help students develop their soft skills
Provide support for any personal issues students may have
Provide career advice to students
Volunteer a student 1-2-1
Provide CV reviews
Provide mock interviews for students
Track students technical and soft skills progress, and recommend tuition to fill gaps identified
Seek out potential employment and development opportunities for students
