SayPro Volunteers are essential to help this project work. kgs of food is wasted per day in Portugal, and this could go a long way to feeding hundreds of homeless people in the capital city. Volunteers travel the town every day to collect food from restaurants, bars, cafes, community centres and supermarkets that are unsellable or about to pass its sell-by date. The food is then taken to a distribution centre where it is sorted, repackaged, and redistributed. Beneficiaries include over homeless people and many more individuals and families who are living below the poverty line.
