Protection and Participation Specialist – Remote Position

Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)

The Protection and Participation Specialist is primarily responsible for ensuring the quality of protection services, in both humanitarian and development services, with an emphasis of establishing and maintaining best practice standards. This individual is also responsible for ensuring quality standards of case management services across all applicable Global programs, in addition, leads initiatives of bringing the voices of children and youth into the forefront of programming.
This position is expected to function effectively with minimal supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Bethany Global case management services through offering in-person and virtual trainings; standardization of tools/documents;
- Lead case management system development (via collaboration with IT department) and develop data tracking systems (along with M&E);
- Provide regular case consultation to in-country teams to strengthen case management and establish best practice standards;
- Lead Bethany Global internal and external training on the Child Protection Minimum Standards, Community Mapping, and Psychological First Aid;
- Lead the mainstreaming of Accountability of Affected Persons to include the voices of children, youth and parents within the program cycles of relevant Global programs by conducting assessments and focus groups to solicit feedback used in design development and revisions;
- Support in-country teams with creation and management of child friendly, mother/baby and women friendly spaces;
- Develop trainings and resources related to serving specific people groups;
- Collaborate with others in the Global HQ department related to monitoring and evaluation, safeguarding, grant management, operations and programming;
- Work to build a cohesive network of teams for collaboration and sharing of information across programs;
- Participate in external communities of practice as a Bethany Global representative;
- Communicate concerns and ideas for better service to direct supervisor in a timely and effective manner;
- Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Social Work or equivalent field of study from an accredited college;
- A minimum of one year of experience working cross culturally, preferably working in development and/or emergency contexts;
- At least three (3) years of experience providing direct case management services;
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience supervising case management services;
- Experience developing and providing training both in-person and virtually;
- Experience working cross culturally;
- Knowledge on strength-based approach, the socioecological model and trauma informed service delivery;
- Preferred knowledge in child protection in humanitarian settings, alternative family-based care, and/or emergency shelter care settings;
- Demonstrated capacity with managing a diverse group of projects while motivating others;
- Must have an ability to work independently demonstrating a high level of self-direction, autonomy, creativity, and initiative;
- Demonstrated organizational, and analytical skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products;
- Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions;
- Active motor vehicle license and a reliable automobile with adequate insurance coverage;
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
- Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitment.

Salary disclosure for residents of Colorado & NYC: ($40,200-$60,300) base rate plus a 0-10% differential for CO and a 20% for NYC* *Note: Bethany’s compensation plan accounts for geographical differentials
