Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS) purpose is to “foster lifelong learning” for children, their families, our team, and our partners. We are a not-for-profit operating 61 early years services across 19 municipalities in the greater Melbourne area. Over 6500 children across Victoria attend an ECMS kindergarten or early learning centre each week.

The Role

Reporting to the Director Communications, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the ECMS’s communications strategy. Playing a leading role in building the style guide, creating the look and feel of the communications portfolio and, in particular, the new website, this creative role is also responsible for:

  • Being the communications lead on organisational projects
  • Preparing and implementing communications plans in line with organisation objectives
  • Creating and generating stories to include in internal & external publications
  • Research into local communities, competitors, and customer demographics
  • Tracking performance of communications and introducing system improvements
  • Managing media coverage, ensuring ECMS’s media kit is available and up to date.

Skills Required
  
Ideally, you have a degree in communications, or a similar discipline, and you have related experience gained in the not for profit, commerce, or education sector. You have high-level writing skills and have produced content across multiple channels, including digital. Being a creative content specialist with strong storytelling abilities, you can proactively find opportunities to create engaging data-driven, human-interest content to further ECMS’s organisational objectives. Additionally you have:

  • Experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or media
  • Expertise writing for various audiences, channels, and in different styles of tone and voice
  • Good understanding of engagement analytics; how data and insights can inform content
  • Passion for the sector and a friendly, approachable manner with an ability to work independently in a collaborative team.
