SayPro Create a new drawing from a template and set page options.
Templates in CorelSet your page size (width and height) to the exact distance that the labels are apart (ie, the diameter of one label plus one gap).· In the centre of the page, draw a circle of the same diameter as the label, move it to the guide’s layer and lock it.· Return to layer 1 and design your label (I’ll assume for the moment you want to print all the labels exactly the same).· Go to the print screen and select the layout tab.· Where it says imposition layout click on edit and at the top of the screen select the number of rows and columns you need for your sheet.Lick on one of those scissor shapes and at the top of the screen enter the exact distance between two labels. You’ll need to do this once for horizontal and once for vertical. Before you leave that screen, click on the + sign (circled in green) that lets you save the imposition to use again later. Name it labels5293 and save it.Return to the print screen and notice that name appears in Imposition Layout. Next time you want to print these labels, just select it there.Click on print preview — you should see your single label design repeated for every label on the sheet — and print.Labels will only be as accurate as your measurement, so:If possible, use a transparent ruler and a magnifying glass to line it up accurately.Measure from the top of the top label to the top of the bottom label and divide by the appropriate number which will be one less than the number of labels top to bottom. You’ll need to allow for some tolerance in your design. Your printer will not be completely accurate and it will probably not print every sheet in exactly the same place. Don’t put text too close to the edge and if you want a background colour over the whole lable, make it at least 1mm bigger than the label itself. To Create a Drawing without a TemplateUse this procedure to create a drawing that is not based on a template.Drawings that are not based on templates contain no customized or predefined settings, such as display configurations or architectural units. Drawings without a template use the settings specified in the Drawing Setup dialog box.If you are a new user use one of the templates provided to create drawings until you are comfortable working with display configurations and other settings. After you are more familiar with the program, you can create your own templates and customize your drawing settings.Click New Drawing.Click the arrow next to Open.Select Open with no Template – Imperial to begin a drawing in imperial units, or select Open with no Template – Metric to begin a drawing in metric units.Setting up a multi-page layout in CorelDrawCreate a new document and select different page sizes.· Group objects.· Duplicate objects.· Center content on the page.· Set up CorelDraw to allow different page sizes in the same document.· Print when using different page sizes in the same document. In this example, we will create a letterhead, a business card design and a custom envelope all within in the same document.
- First, open CorelDraw and create a new document. Since we will be starting with the letterhead, select Letter as the document size, and set the color mode to RGB. Make sure that the orientation is Portrait and then click OK.
- Next, import the graphics – in this example, the company logo, name and address have already been created and are saved in a CDR file.
For more information on designing a logo for your business, please visit our tutorial on how to Create an Effective Logo in CorelDRAW.By placing the graphics off to the side of the main Workspace, they will be accessible on multiple pages, so in this example, I will move this content over to the left.
- Double click on the Rectangle tool to create a border around the page.
Next, select the graphics and use the key combination Ctrl + D on your keyboard to duplicate that content. If you haven’t yet set the options for duplicating, a message will pop up to allow you to specify where copied content will be placed. Since that isn’t relevant for this project, you can just click OK to the message and continue.Move the graphics into the work space and make sure that they are grouped. To do this, with the objects selected, use the key combination Ctrl + G on your keyboard or select Group from the Arrange menu. If the elements of the design are already grouped, this option will appear grayed out.To ensure that the logo is properly centered, click on the group you just created and then, while holding down the Shift key on your keyboard, select the page border. Now, pressing the letter C on the keyboard will center the graphics to the middle of the page.
- To create a line separator, from the Standard Toolbar, select the 2 Point Line tool.
Draw a horizontal line roughly 2/3 of the width of the page. In this example we have made the line 1 pt in thickness and added an arrow head to each end for show.
- Center the line below the graphics by selecting the line, holding down the Shift key, selecting the page border, and once again pressing the letter C key on your keyboard will move that line to the middle of the page.
- When everything has been centered you can click on the border and delete it.
Creating the Business Card Page 1. In order to create different page sizes within one document, you must first make sure that the Current Page button, in the interactive properties bar, has been selected. By pressing this button, you are telling CorelDraw that the page size you have selected is only applicable to the current page you’re working on.Click on the + sign at the bottom of the screen to add another page.On page 2 we will create a business card. You can set that size either by entering 3.5 by 2 inches or selecting Business Card from the preset Page size drop-down list.Once again, duplicate the graphics content and re-size the components to compliment the size of the page.
- You can Un-group the components by going to the Arrange menu and selecting Un-group.
This way, you can select just one component of the design, in this case, the sailboat, and make it larger so as to better fit the shape of the business card.If you return to Page 1, you will see that the 8.5 by 11 inch Letter page size has remained in-tact.Creating the Envelope PageSimilar steps can be applied to create an envelope that were used to make the business card.
- A standard business size envelope can be chosen by selecting Envelope #9 from the preset page sizes.
In this example we have used the graphics to create a return address, and added a small rectangle in the upper right hand corner to indicate the area where the stamp will be placed.Once again, if you select Page 2 you can see that it has remained 2 by 3.5 inches or Business Card size, and Page 1 is still in Letter size.Printing from a document with different page sizesWhen printing from a multi-page document containing different page sizes, it is important to remember to specify which part of the document you will be printing.
- From the Print window, make sure to select Current Page. That way, you will be able to set up the print job accordingly, for that part of the document.
For example, printing a sheet of business cards will use a very different settings in Print Preview than stationary or envelopes would.Documents containing different page sizes are a great way to keep organized and make sure that all the branding on your office stationary is consistent.
