Overview World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks a Director, Freshwater & Food Transformation, Sustainable Commodities. Major Function World Wildlife Fund (WWF) one of the world's leading conservation organization, seeks a Director, to the Freshwater & Food Transformation team's engagement in major initiatives to drive responsible demand for commodities. In this role, the Director leads and implements global strategies to achieve sustainable supply chains and develops new initiatives for the Freshwater & Food team to contribute to these strategies. In addition, the Director will represent the Freshwater & Food team in various internal and external working groups, steering committees, meetings, conferences, etc. to drive alignment around WWF's strategies for sustainable commodities on issues that include deforestation and conversion-free commodities; developing and reviewing strategic documents or reports including WWF global commodity strategies and major corporate engagement initiatives; exploring other new programmatic areas and funding opportunities for the WWF-US Freshwater & Food; and other strategic planning activities. Responsibilities Develop the strategy to manage project activities and results to take deforestation out of commodity supply chains and ensures alignment between this initiative and WWF's global strategies. Leads WWF efforts to stop deforestation and resulting Carbon emissions from beef, soy and palm oil value chains. This will include working internally across WWF goal and practice teams on projects and externally with partners on scorecards and reports, development of national roundtables, working groups and other activities, especially in Latin America. Manages engagements with companies on scope 3 Science Based Targets, especially action plans related to WWF DCF Implementation toolkit and Forest Land and Agriculture (SBTI FLAG). Oversee programmatic/global strategic planning for WWF-Freshwater & Food Team and the WWF Network on topics related to sustainable commodities, commodity-driven deforestation, and habitat conversion, etc. especially for beef production. Compares the different methods to achieve sustainable commodities including, certification, jurisdictional and supply chain approaches Leads and support efforts to fundraise for and develop new areas of work for the WWF-US Freshwater & Food team. Other duties and responsibilities assigned by manager. Qualifications- 10 years technical working experience in conservation-related field, including 4 years of project or program management experience Bachelor's Degree, and post-graduate degree preferred Knowledge of commodity certification and standards and commodities driving deforestation, especially beef, soy and palm oil and accountability framework Excellent leadership and organizational skills with an emphasis on program and project management. International and multi stake-holder program management experience preferred Experience working with supply chain management and/or corporate engagement are highly desirable Experience in Latin America, including Spanish and/or Portuguese Experience developing and managing project budgets Negotiation and facilitation skills. Experience in developing complex proposals for development agencies and donors Ability to interact with senior business, government, and NGO staff National and international travel required Committed to building and strengthening a culture of inclusion within and across teams.
