OBJECTIVE: The Mineral Processing Division seeks to appoint an Engineer to conduct multidisciplinary research and developing techniques for the physical separation of metallic and non-metallic minerals. The successful candidate will assume direct leadership and ensure that high quality, value-add research, processes, technologies and commercial services are developed and delivered in-line with Mintek’s mandate, 2030 strategy and new operating model. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Design, plan, conduct and co-ordinate research projects. Execute metallurgical testwork. Interact with clients at a technical level Manage and control finances of the research and commercial projects Undertake and co-ordinate routine service work and communicate results to clients Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of subordinate staff, to ensure that service of a high standard is rendered to clients, at full cost recovery Provide technical and practical input in the execution of experiments. JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 Year in either Flotation or Physical separation studies/projects is a necessity. Experience in research and development projects is a requirement. Intention of becoming an expect in this field. Team player who enjoys variety and has a passion for minerals processing. An affinity for planning and conducting new and innovative projects is essential. QUALIFICATIONS: BSc Hon or B Eng. in chemical/metallurgical engineering is required (MSc or M.Eng will be an ) Professional registration and voluntary association membership will be an BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES: Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to cope in a stressful and demanding environment Willing to travel locally and internationally.
