Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will be responsible for: Active participation and leadership in the research agenda of the Department; Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Department; Departmental administrative tasks. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS LECTURER A Masters degree in Computer Science; A minimum of one accredited journal publication; Teaching in Computer Science at a tertiary level. SENIOR LECTURER Same as for Lecturer and; PhD degree in Computer Science; A minimum of two accredited journal publications; Peer reviewed international conference publications; A minimum of two years teaching in Computer Science at a tertiary level. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR Same as for Senior Lecturer and; At least 6 years combined tertiary teaching and industry related ; Academic status in the relevant discipline; A research and publication record; Experience in the successful graduation of Masters and/or PhD candidates; Experience in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching. National recognition as a well-established researcher. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES): Appropriate language and communication skills; ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES: Evidence of teaching excellence to large postgraduate classes; Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching and research expertise that complement the Departments research focus area; Related industry work or consulting ; NRF rating or have applied for one: Active researcher in one of the departments focus areas: Honours/postgraduate student supervision.
