Substance use is a global epidemic, affecting people of all races and socioeconomic backgrounds. As the leading provider of racial equity research in substance use, SayPro is committed to breaking down barriers and changing attitudes that perpetuate substance use as a disease unique to communities of color.

The SayPro Racial Equity Visionary Award Program for Research on Substance Use and Racial Equity is a one-of-a-kind recognition ceremony that acknowledges exceptional leaders who are using their knowledge and expertise to change the future of substance use. These individuals are helping us better understand why substance misuse disproportionately affects certain groups, what factors are contributing to this problem, and how we can work together to end this cycle of poverty and stigma.

Join us in acknowledging these incredible leaders who are changing the future by shining a light on the truth about substance abuse – that it affects everyone.

We know that substance abuse is a global problem. In the US, substance misuse is estimated to affect almost 21 million people and cost over $344 billion each year. That’s why SayPro is proud to have developed a program that recognizes the work of racial equity visionaries who are leading the way in studying substance use and its effect on communities.

Through this program, SayPro is encouraging these leaders to conduct important research that will help us better understand this issue. By awarding them with the SayPro Racial Equity Visionary Award, we are creating opportunities for these leaders to share their knowledge and expertise with us all so that we can make a difference together.

SayPro recognizes leaders who are committed to creating a more racially equitable society. With the SayPro Racial Equity Visionary Award Program, we’re empowering these leaders by providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to make a difference. Through this program, we’re helping leaders develop innovative solutions to improve racial equality in health and wellness.

Awarded annually since 2013, the SayPro Racial Equity Visionary Award Program is funded by pharmaceutical companies that share our vision for a more racially equitable society. With an impressive list of past recipients from diverse backgrounds, industries, and regions around the world, this initiative is making an impact in communities throughout the United States. By investing in leaders who are committed to changing culture for the better, we’re helping create a brighter future for everyone.

Substance abuse and racial inequalities go hand-in-hand. But while substance abuse is often seen as a problem affecting mostly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, the truth is that people of color are also at risk of developing drug problems. Why?

Racial inequality, after all, can lead to increased exposure to substance abuse in our communities. And yet research has been slow to catch up with these statistics. That’s why SayPro’s Racial Equity Visionary Award Program for Research on Substance Use and Racial Equity is so important. It aims to address the root causes of substance abuse by funding groundbreaking research that sheds light on these issues and provides remedies for them.
