SayPro also ensures the successful implementation of the institutional research and innovation strategy in 4IR. SayPro increases external research income by identifying and communicating national and international funding opportunities, and facilitating assistance with the completion of high-quality applications and proposals (effectively match-make grant calls and individuals) Facilitating research collaborations through networks and partnerships, both nationally and, with the International Office, globally Monitoring of externally and internally funded projects, awards and programs and ensuring compliance with funding agreements Institutional support to grow the number of rated researchers at the Coordinate research capacity development workshops for emerging, mid-career researchers and programs between established and emerging researchers

Work closely with the Technology Transfer Office to further the innovation-commercialisation nexus Provide ongoing support to Research and Innovation/Ideation Chairs and Research Entities Provide support to the Research Ethics Committee (SREC) and the Research Committee Enhance research visibility by identifying researchers, research projects and outcomes to publicise Manage and administer the suite of internal research support programmes Management and review of the university’s research centres and institutes Facilitate the nomination process of staff for various prestigious awards and recognitions, thereby enhancing public awareness of academic/research achievements of the university Excellent and timeous communication with academic and professional support staff partners within and external to the institution Modernise processes/systems and associated change management (people aspect) using 4IR tools and collaborating with divisions (such as Information and Communication Systems, Institute for Intelligent Systems, and others) Ensure effective and efficient management of the Unit’s internal budget allocations Management and development of staff within the unit
