The youth of South Africa are key to the country’s future. With a rapidly-growing population and an ever-changing economy, it is essential that the youth have the opportunity to be successful. The KZN Youth Economic Empowerment Strategy (YES) is designed to empower these young people and give them the skills and resources they need to reach their full potential. The five pillars of the YES strategy are: education and employment, entrepreneurship and business development, culture and sports, infrastructure, and health and well-being. By addressing these key areas, YES aims to equip the youth with the skills and resources they need to thrive in today’s economy.
With joblessness among the youth in Kwa-Zulu Natal rising, it’s time to do something. Introducing SayPro – a comprehensive youth economic empowerment strategy that aims to create jobs, increase income and improve futures for more than one million young people in the province by 2025.
The five pillars of the KZN Youth Economic Empowerment Strategy include: creating jobs, developing income, enhancing skills and enhancing resilience. There are also specific focuses on entrepreneurship, renewable energy and digital literacy, among others. Through SayPro, we will not just change the lives of young people in our province; we will change South Africa itself.

These were special times where you learnt about values, aspirational goals, and how to make decisions that are right for you. You quickly understood what you wanted to achieve in life and knew it wasn’t easy. But with SayPro, every kid has the chance to be empowered by economic opportunities.
The KZN Youth Economic Empowerment Strategy is going a long way in creating pathways for youth development and success. Our SayPro pillars are designed to promote young people’s development by encouraging entrepreneurship, mentorship, and education. The five pillars of this strategy include: financial literacy, budgeting, saving habits and more.
By empowering our youth like this, we’re making sure they can succeed on their own terms and taking control of their future.
The pillars of the KZN Youth Economic Empowerment Strategy are: Education, Jobs, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Youth Participation. SayPro is working in partnership with the Department of Economic Development and Tourism to help youth take full advantage of these opportunities.
