This case study was conducted on secondary school students of North Local Government Area, Kano state, Nigeria. The aim of this research was to understand the influence of home environment on academic performance and wellbeing of secondary school students in North Local Government Area, Kano State. Therefore, this study used survey method and was carried out for 3 weeks from September 15th till September 20th 2014. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software and presented with relevant tables and charts. Results showed that overall academic performance increased across all subjects by almost 10%. This means that overall school attendance increased as well meaning classrooms became more productive places for learning than before because of changes made to the way we view our homes

In a case study conducted by SayPro, they have found out that home environment is one of the greatest determinants of student performance. The case study analyzed students who belong to North Local Government Area and secondary schools inside it. North Local Government has around 4-5 schools, so 5-10 classes were selected from each school on a pre-determined basis. Student data was collected with regards to their academic performance and home environment factors like nutrition, education and health was assessed by trained professionals using surveys and interviews. The data was analyzed after a period of two months to find out the correlation between home environment and academic performance.

We all know that home is the world for a child where he or she can express his or her true emotions and feels comfortable. However, when it comes to school, we tend to forget that students need to be influenced accordingly (for their best interests).
