About People in Need Slovakia
People in Need (PIN) Slovakia is a leading Slovak NGO, providing direct support to those who suffer the consequences of war, to victims of natural disasters, or those living in poverty on the margins of society. Since 1999, we have provided a helping hand to people in 29 countries around the world, as well as in Slovakia. Currently, PIN Slovakia is one of the major humanitarian actors from Slovakia responding the Ukraine crisis both in Slovakia and across border in Ukraine.
We are part of the international People in Need network and are structurally and programmatically linked to People in Need in Czech Republic. Thanks to this partnership we are able to combine our strength as one of the biggest NGOs in Slovakia with that of People in Need in Czech Republic as one of the biggest NGOs in central Europe.
Our Humanitarian and Development Department currently operates in 4 countries (Ukraine, Lebanon, Moldova and Kenya). Following the outbreak of war in Ukraine, our biggest country programme focuses on food, shelter/non-food items and psychosocial support with a staff of 39 people. We are now looking for a Senior Programme Manager to be based in our Bratislava office to provide overall coordination of HQ support to the field team based in Ukraine to facilitate timely, effective, and impactful project implementation and growth.
Main responsibilities:
Senior Programme Manager:
- acts as a main focal point for Ukraine mission at HQ, coordinates HQ support to field teams, provides technical support and strengthens coordination
- plays a key role in the programme strategic planning process, including developing the project portfolio
- works directly with Ukraine mission and project managers to support the effective and timely implementation of projects
- takes responsibility for the programme’s contract development, compliance with PIN Slovakia procedures and specific donor requirements, managing budgets/expenditure/forecast and drafting and submitting donor reports
- identifies new funding opportunities, liaises with donors and contributes to the development of new project proposals
- supports relevant HR processes related to the programme, including recruitment, performance management, capacity building and mentoring
- assists in the preparation and timely completion of monitoring and evaluation plans, progress reports, in-depth reviews, learning documents, and growth plans; ensuring quality control of project deliverable
- develops and maintains key stakeholder relationships with external stakeholders such as donors, institutions or international partners
- performs other duties as required.
Reporting relations:
Senior Programme Manager reports to Head of Relief and Development Department.
Requirements:
- University degree in relevant field
- At least 2 years in managing/overseeing projects and teams in the non-profit sector, field work experience will be an asset
- At least 1 year experience of managing projects in the field of human rights, social affairs, humanitarian aid or development
- Experience with building donor relations, project proposal development and writing; knowledge of Slovak, UN or EU donor environment desirable
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills
- Proven analysis and report writing skills
- Excellent spoken and written English AND Slovak or Czech
- Dynamic and result-oriented profile
- Reliable and self-reliant personality
- Ability to organize and plan effectively
- Responsible and systematic
- Availability for short-term travel to the field
