SayPro Community Engagement Specialist
Job Overview: The Community Engagement Specialist supports the successful integration of refugees, asylees, and other immigrants by leading programming that harnesses the power of welcoming communities. They collaborate with IRC staff to determine needs, coordinate community outreach, build effective relationships, and connect clients with community-based resources. Major Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Refine and implement an effective local community engagement strategy for the benefit of the community and IRC’s clients. Community engagement includes general support of IRC’s mission and clients, financial and in-kind donations, and responsibly collecting and sharing refugee stories, and engagement with media. Collaborate with IRC colleagues to amplify messaging about IRC’s work and how community members can support refugee and immigrant families. Increase community engagement through outreach. Meet with community members, deliver presentations, represent IRC at local meetings, and create tools, fact sheets, presentations, and templates. Plan and implement events and opportunities that foster deeper connections between newcomers and volunteers. Assist with the collection and distribution of in-kind and monetary donations and complete reporting in Salesforce and AirTable databases. Communicate with community through social media, phone calls and more about up-to-date donation needs. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred. 2-3 years of related professional experience. Prior volunteer or professional experience in community development or volunteer coordination strongly preferred. Refugee or immigrant background or experience working with refugee/immigrant communities strongly preferred. Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment. Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively. Self-direction and initiative, when needed, to take the lead and to follow through to completion. Fluent in English, both spoken and written; ability to communicate in second language is desired. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), Canva or other graphic design tool; ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes. Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle. Working Environment: A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. May require weekend and/or evening work. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director, Community and Private Sector Engagement for an upcoming project - The Zambia Integrated HIV and Health Activity. Position Description: The Director, Community and Private Sector Engagement will provide technical and programmatic oversight and strategic direction in the areas of developing and sustaining linkages between communities and the health system including the private sector. As part of the ZIHA implementation team, the Director will lead the development of the project-wide strategy to ensure effective linkages between the communities and the health facilities to increase the demand and supply of integrated HIV services including MNCH/FP/RH and HIV/TB. The Director will establish partnerships and collaborate with other stakeholders such as NGOs, government, and the private sector to implement interventions to increase uptake and utilization of integrated HIV prevention services. The Director, Community and Private Sector will seek partnerships with the private sector to enable community access to privately provided health services including insurance and will provide technical leadership to Technical Advisors, teams based in the province and subcontractors in the implementation of community-based activities. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical and programmatic leadership in the design and implementation of project-wide strategy for community mobilization, community partnership development and private sector engagement Provide technical leadership in defining a community awareness/mobilization strategy for ZIHA for improving the demand and supply of HIV Prevention services, HIV/TB, counseling, care, and treatment services, FP and MCH services Provide support to PHO and DHOs in developing effective partnerships with the private sector Provide technical support to District and community-based staff in the management of community mobilization efforts. Project Overview: The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers under the newly introduced Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme which combines the existing Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP). The Overseas Employment Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs exists as the Labour Sending Unit for Tonga. The Tonga Labour Mobility Policy requires Tonga to mobilise high-quality workers who meet industry requirements in Australia as well as effectively represent Tonga as a reliable and competitive sending country.
