The IRC has been working in Poland since March 2022 to support the refugees fleeing from the war in Ukraine with basic needs and protection assistance. Job Overview/Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Protection and Rule of Law Manager and the oversight of the Integrated Protection Coordinator, the Senior Protection Analysis Officer will be responsible for the overall analysis of the safety and protection situation of refugees and people of concern in Poland based on the data collected by the Protection Monitors throughout Poland. Protection Monitors and Child Protection Monitors will collect data from the refugees and people of concern using pre-developed data collection tools such as surveys, focus group discussions, key informant interviews and observation. The data will be stored in a centralized data management system online. The Senior Protection Analysis Officer will then clean and analyse these data and produce information products to inform program and advocacy strategies. The information products will take different forms including (and not limited to): monthly protection risk analysis reports and dashboard, inputs to program and advocacy strategic documents, donor proposals and reports, white papers, situation analysis reports, among other. She/he will monitor and guide the Protection Monitoring mobile teams and make sure they understand the data collection tools that are being used. The incumbent will also support in the development of these tools in the online data management system using the questions formulated by the Protection Program management. The incumbent needs to have an understanding of both data management and visualization processes as well as programmatic technical area in the area of protection risks (child protection, gender-based violence and violation of human rights). Adopting a route-based approach, IOM coordinates the Regional Migrant Response Plan for East and Horn of Africa 2021-2024 (MRP) which is a migrant-focused humanitarian and development response strategy for vulnerable migrants from the Horn of Africa traveling along the Eastern Route. The MRP’s objectives are to ensure protection assistance to vulnerable migrants in the Horn of Africa, support durable and development-oriented approaches to return and sustainable reintegration, strengthen the protection of migrants in the Horn of Africa by building capacities of governments, and analyse trends of migration between the Horn of Africa and Yemen. To strengthen protection responses in the plan, the organization recently supported the establishment of a Regional Migrant Protection Working Group (MPWG) to ensure coordinated protection response along the Eastern Route. Under the overall supervision of the Regional Director and the direct supervision of the Senior Regional Protection Specialist and in close coordination with the MRP coordinator, BMM and MPRR Programme Coordinators the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of protection activities in the region including coordination of the Regional Migrant Protection Working Group and the implementation of its priorities. This role is responsible for overseeing the effectiveness of technology solutions for NPHIL’s public health programs. ABOUT THE PROJECT Internews is working at the frontline of the COVID-19 infodemic to ensure communities have access to timely, accurate, and responsive information, so that people can make well-informed health choices. Through the Rooted in Trust 2.0 (RiT) project, Internews aims to combat COVID-19 rumors and misinformation in 10 countries: Afghanistan, Lebanon, Brazil, Colombia, Mali, DRC, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Sudan and South Sudan. We work to create impact at the local level and inform approaches to rumor management at the global level. In Sudan, Internews' RiT project tracks COVID-19 related rumors and misinformation among conflict-affected communities, including on social media platforms, and through face-to-face discussions with community members. This regular feedback collection aims to inform and influence risk communication efforts by humanitarian and public health actors, and to support local media in disseminating accurate and actionable information that responds to communities' COVID-19 information needs. The project is supported by a Global Technical Advisory team made up of media, humanitarian, data science and information management experts. In Phase 1 of the project, we collected more than 19 thousand rumors in 14 languages and supported more than 30 local trusted information providers. In this critical phase of the pandemic, we will build on these efforts to listen and respond to the information challenges faced by vulnerable groups in humanitarian contexts, encouraging open dialogue between citizens and scientists and stronger and more collaborative partnerships between information providers (such as local media) and humanitarian and health sources. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The Information Management Officer will be responsible to ensure optimal information management across the Internews network at local and country levels. The Information Management Officer will focus on collating qualitative information like social media interactions, questions from audiences on radio and TV shows, concerns and questions as collected by CSOs and national NGOs, and where relevant, feedback collection by other humanitarian actors, and then ensuring it is cleaned, collated an organized in a consistent and continuous way in support of local and regional content production and informed decision-making among humanitarian and health actors. LOGISTICS This is a remote-based position. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable knowledge of the Sudanese context. Candidates based anywhere in the world will be considered. However, you must have work authorization in your location that does not require sponsorship from Internews.
