Aflatoun’s programmes follow an active-learning, participant- centered methodology, which combines social and financial education (SFE) through engaging participants, educators, government institutions and civil society organisations. We are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Market Analysis Consultant to lead on our business development efforts with private schools. Purpose of the consultancy Aflatoun International is in the process of strengthening its diversification of income streams. Key financial contributions come from Restricted Grants, Unrestricted Grants, Partnership Fees, Consultancies and Private Sector contracts. The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct a market analysis for 6 to 10 countries with high potential where Aflatoun, through its Aflaventure entity, can engage with the private sector to promote its existing or new products and services. Deliverables: Identify a list of countries where the private sector (education and financial) can be approached with current and new Aflatoun products/services (mid-November 2022) Conduct a detailed market analysis for 6 to 10 countries out of the list of countries developed. The market analysis should provide accurate information regarding market size, potential market share, list of potential clients Aflatoun can engage with (December 2022) Based on the analysis, the consultant should recommend new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, new products, and services (Mid-January 2023) Identify promotional strategy and activities with the Communications department supporting sales campaigns (End of January 2023) Required Skills & Qualifications Business and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to conduct a thorough market study at an international level Expert knowledge of the role of the private sector (financial and education) Demonstrated ability to understand external corporate drivers and implement internal strategies to allow Aflatoun t achieve its goals Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and work in a team characterized by diverse cultural backgrounds Self-driven with a high sense of creativity, quality, accuracy, efficiency and meeting tight deadlines Fluency in oral and written English and preferably other languages Hiring details The position is for a Consultancy. Job Description The Conservation Manager (Off Reserve) will provide conservation services and stewardship extension support in the Karoo Landscape Unit and participate in local co-ordination and governance structures to assist in identifying ecological corridors in Landscape East. RESPONSPONSIBILITIES Completion of Stewardship Processes: To provide information to key landowners and managers in respect of relevant conservation stewardship options and facilitate and provide support for the negotiations and development of subsequent stewardship agreements in order to secure priority Succulent Karoo habitats. To complete the administrative and legal process to formalize stewardship agreements Consolidate negotiations for stewardship agreements Maintain Stewardship sites Preparation and compilation of stewardship site assessments for potential stewardship sites. Attend and participate in the stewardship site review process. Carry out METT assessments for all stewardship nature reserves. Reviewing management plans and audits & identifying projects that need funding. Provide Extension Support Coordinating and participating in landowner and partner knowledge exchanges at the landscape level Attend and participate in relevant Conservation Management and Stewardship meetings, Forums, Symposiums & Peer Learning Workshops. Attend meetings with partners & stakeholders Capacity building and technical advice through extension support Provide a general biodiversity conservation extension service to the greater community, based on key biodiversity conservation themes and threats. Facilitate strategic level engagements with key stakeholders Co-ordinate the activities and plans for the community of practice and key role players throughout the landscape in order to develop longer term coordinated sustainable biodiversity stewardship support. Participate in existing landscape initiatives such as GCBR or identify other possible conservation initiatives to mainstream Protected Area Expansion in the Landscape. Support partners with Stewardship negotiations: EWT Support partners in the development and implementation of Management Plans, METT/ annual reviews and technical assistance projects (incl. post declaration maintenance). Utilize existing landscape knowledge, planning documents including WC BSP, WCPAES & CAPMap to identify ecological corridors and develop a collective vision for the landscape which will guide all activities at the landscape level and inform landscape level Protected Area Expansion activities. Monitoring, control and compliance Participate in and report to the Western Cape Stewardship and Protected Area Expansion Reference Group & LHSKT Steering Committee. Ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation. Project progress reporting to the Funder Financial and asset management at operational level. Manage information systems and relevant databases. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A formal three-year qualification in the field of Natural Resource Management or Biodiversity Conservation. At least five years management in the Conservation Sector. A valid EB (08) drivers license and a willingness to travel extensively in the region Own private transport (to be reimbursed for official mileage) Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Power Point and GIS). Bilingualism in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape. Understanding of Environmental Legislation. Experience in the implementation of Stewardship methodology.
