We are now looking for an Interim Director of Growth and External Relations to join our team in Bristol for a 12-month fixed-term contract, on a full-time basis working 35 hours per week.

The Role

As the Interim Director of Growth and External Relations, you will be responsible for overseeing our organisational growth, external engagements and partnerships to maximise impact whilst we recruit a new CEO.

Specifically, you will maximise our impact with new and existing audiences by increasing awareness and our external profile. This will involve building productive networks with governments and international organisations, with a particular focus on growth within the North American philanthropic marketplace.

Taking responsibility for our marketing, brand management and partnerships, you will provide frameworks for both organisation-wide strategies, as well as for our regional Hubs. You will provide core marketing materials, that may be tailored by geographically diverse teams to target specific audiences.

Additionally, you will:

  • Oversee our corporate communications and marketing materials
  • Promote new programmes and projects with partners – Facilitate professional development and the international influencing capacity of teams

About You

To be considered as the Interim Director of Growth and External Relations, you will need:

  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience in a senior management role in a relevant international organisation
  • Experience of public relations and managing teams who oversee communications and external relations
  • Experience of working in or with governments to communicate policy positions and campaigns
  • Experience of shaping policy action within the UN system and International Institutions
  • Experience of organisational management including budgeting, development, finance and evaluation
  • Experience of working with finance teams to present income pipelines
  • A proven record of excellence in fundraising, media relations, and other external representation
  • Knowledge of institutional, bilateral and private donors within the US donor market
  • Excellent knowledge of brand management
  • Expertise in business and fundraising development, with a network of philanthropic and government contacts
  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in political science, economics or international development

This role will require a flexible and willing approach to travel – sometimes abroad and often at short notice – for specified periods.
