Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be responsible for: The strategic, academic, leadership and transformation of the ; Promoting, planning, organising, accreditation and managing of academic and research programmes and the ’s research profile; The recruitment and management of world class personnel; All financial activities including externally funded projects; Playing an active role as academic leader of the discipline at a local, national and international level and development of international partnerships; Marketing and growing the with the emphasis on student growth; Leading and promoting research intensity within the in terms of research outputs, international publications and PhD students. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Associate Professor: An appropriate undergraduate degree in Town and Regional Planning; A PhD related to Planning; Academic status in the relevant discipline; A research and publication record; At least 12 years’ City or Town Planning related ; Registerable or registered with a relevant professional body within this field; National recognition as a researcher; Experience in the successful graduation of Master’s and/or PhD candidates; Experience in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching. Professor (Same as for Associate Professor, plus): National and international recognition as a researcher; Experience in the successful graduation of PhD candidates. Head of must demonstrate: Experience in the following: High-level liaison with internal and external stakeholders and professional boards; Managing and leadership activities; Marketing of the to obtain research and development contracts and external funding; Managing in the built environment; Accreditation processes; National and/or international collaboration; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
